Position: RN - Emergency Department - ADULT ED

Schedule: 36 Hour, D/E Rotation. Must be able to work all of these shifts: 7am-7pm, 11am-11pm or 3pm to 3am.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Deliver nursing care in the Adult Emergency Department, including assessing, diagnosing, planning, intervening, evaluating, and educating patients
• Communicate with various health care team members, patients, and their families
• Coordinate and delegate appropriate patient care activities to inter-professional colleagues
• Update and manage patient records
• Enter and interpret computerized data/information
• Follow guidelines and policies established by BMC’s nursing organization
• Assist the leadership team as needed in quality improvement projects

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

• Licensed to practice professional nursing as a registered nurse in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
• 1 + years of ED RN experience required
• TNCC certification is required. Must have certification by first day of hire.
• Certification in basic life support (BLS)
• Advanced Cardiac Life support (ACLS) certification required in certain units
• Nursing degree: Diploma, ASN or BSN (preferred), Ability to obtain BSN within 4 years
• Relevant clinical experience and/or specialty, certification required for certain practice areas
• Effective verbal and written communication skills
• Physical ability to meet job responsibilities
• Basic computer proficiency
• Fluency in another language a plus
• Must be able to independently read and interpret telemetry rhythm strips and identify heart blocks and pass a Telemetry Test on Day 1 (85+%).
• Must be flexible with floating to areas: Psych ED and Pedi ED (caring for age 15+ patients in pedi unless previous pedi experience
• Patient Ratio: 1:4-5 patients (depending on acuity)
• Dept Details: Very busy ED, holds up to 120 “treatment areas” serving 350-440 patients/day.

Preferred Exp:

• EPIC, Previous travel assignments, Critical care experience

Required Certs:

• TNCC, BLS, ACLS (must be active/unexpired), MA License, References
